Adrian and Jon at Bylaugh Hall

November 10, 2008

After being together for 10 years Andrian and John celebrated their civil partnership at Bylaugh Hall near Dereham, Norfolk. Their custom-made rings incorporated fragments of earlier rings they exchanged and were engraved in elven.

The autumn sunsets are short and it was getting darker by the minute:

Disco party was hilarious:

Elaine and Andrea had their civil partnership ceremony and reception at Grey Street Hotel, a highly rated boutique style hotel in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne. Its inner decor is minimalist, however it’s a Grade II listed building and retains its Victorian bank facade:

Both girls were getting ready at the hotel. Andrea was the first one to visit.

I am photographing Jon and Adrian’s civil partnership ceremony in September. Meanwhile we had a pre-wedding session at Holkham beach in Norfolk to get to know each other and play.

Here are some photos from their engagement session:

Beach huts lent themselves well to a nostalgic moody treatment. I took a series of shots at the hut made of weathered wood. First I asked Adrian and Jon to give me an almost blank look that you see in old Americana photos:

And no, they don’t make those faces in real life - I needed some crazy expressions for this composite board I had in mind…

Some fun against the patchwork of huts:

Sharon and Kim’s album draft is out for approval. Hare are some layouts for their 12″x12″ magazine-style album. The styling of the title page was inspired by the antique elements of Kimberley Hall built in the 18th century.

You may remember Sharon and Kim from their pre-wedding session in London this spring. Finally it came time for their civil partnership at Kimberley Hall near Wymondham in Norfolk.

Details, starting with Sharon’s gentle bouquet of summer flowers:

And of course, the shoes:

It was raining hard all day but by the end of the day I managed to get some views of Kimberley Hall for Kim and Sharon to remember. The Hall is still in occupation and only half a dozen weddings are booked there annually.

As it was still raining we went upstairs for a private photosession:

During her speech Kim presented an Oscar to Sharon for the best dressed bride in a dress:

The cake was made of tiny little fairy cakes and the cake top was made by Sharon and Kim’s friend (I think):

By 6.30pm it became drier and we managed to get outside!

Boys were happy too:

First dance was fast-moving and involved all the guests, not only Sharon and Kim:

Elaine and Andrea booked me to photograph their civil partnership ceremony in Newcastle upon Tyne this September. We met at the Monument one Sunday afternoon for their urban pre-wedding shoot.

The streets were nearly empty as the shops were closed so John only suffered a mild discomfort when he ended up carrying two girl’s bags around the city centre.

Here are some images from this pre-wedding session.

Sharon and Kim’s civil partnership ceremony is coming up in June. On Friday we came out to Barbican in London to shoot their pre-wedding session.

We started the shoot outside the Barbican Art Centre and walked a couple of tube stops down to Liverpool Street.
