Kate and Guenter is another couple whose pre-wedding shoot turned into a location family portrait session - can’t help it with their two adorable children around!

Kate arranged us to meet on the playground as a safe and activity-rich environment for kids. It was good for photography too. Here are some photos from their shoot:

I photographed Caroline and Carl’s wedding back in 2005. Now they are proud parents of their 7-month old baby daughter Holly and have decided to come back to have a family portrait session with me. We met on a sunny Sunday afternoon in Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. Holly was exceptionally well-behaved and giggly on the day. It was great to work with them!

Several years ago I photographed Louise and Alex’s wedding. Now they are proud parents of a delightful baby daughter Abigail and have come back for a portrait session at their family home.

We started with a window lit portrait of Abigail in her room:

But, as often with little babies, they fret and are easier to photograph when asleep.

Autumn colours, textures and soft diffused quality of lights make a perfect setting for a family portrait session. It is also a good time to be photographed if you want to give prints and framed images as Christmas presents.

Every time when I pop out to our corner shop or post office I am dying to explore the weathered doorways and stylish Victorian features of the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter where we live now.

For a limited time there is a special offer for an autumn family portrait session in Birmingham - £45 for an hour location sitting and a 10″x8″ print in a mount folder. The rest of the images are uploaded to an online proofing/ordering gallery.

To guarantee that your photos are delivered before Xmas book your session any time before 10 November and order before 15 November 2009.

To give you an idea here are some photos of Paola and Johannes’s sons I took earlier.

Emma and William were en route to St Andrews, Fife, in Scotland, where I’ll photograph their wedding this summer. We met at Berwick upon Tweed just off A1 for their pre-wedding session.

In the afternoon on the 17th-century Old Bridge over the river Tweed:

We ventured further into town and used an old metail shop gate for these portraits of William and Emma:

We were finishing the session as the sun was setting down and the couple were preparing to resume their trip to St Andrews.

Jo and Kalum are getting married next year at Jesmond Dene House Hotel in Newcastle.

We had already cancelled one pre-wedding shoot date previously due to adverse weather, and that afternoon also looked quite overcast. Nevertheless, the BBC weather website promised sunshine from 4pm onwards so we braved the Newcastle city centre for an afternoon session.

Jo:

True enough, the sun came out after 4pm casting beautiful sharp shadows.

QUE from DB Game, a black hiphop band in Newcastle upon Tyne, called me to get some photos of their band done for the website. You can listen to some tracks performed by DB Game on their myspace page here >>.

I am photographing Jon and Adrian’s civil partnership ceremony in September. Meanwhile we had a pre-wedding session at Holkham beach in Norfolk to get to know each other and play.

Here are some photos from their engagement session:

Beach huts lent themselves well to a nostalgic moody treatment. I took a series of shots at the hut made of weathered wood. First I asked Adrian and Jon to give me an almost blank look that you see in old Americana photos:

And no, they don’t make those faces in real life - I needed some crazy expressions for this composite board I had in mind…

As promised, posting some images from Natasha’s modelling portfolio session in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. Natasha came from Middlebrough and spent a late afternoon with me and John. All these are a result of a walkabout around the Granger Market area where we were search for urban/distressed locations. There are so many grungey photogenic spots in Newcastle, more so than in Norwich.

Elaine and Andrea booked me to photograph their civil partnership ceremony in Newcastle upon Tyne this September. We met at the Monument one Sunday afternoon for their urban pre-wedding shoot.

The streets were nearly empty as the shops were closed so John only suffered a mild discomfort when he ended up carrying two girl’s bags around the city centre.

Here are some images from this pre-wedding session.
