Pauline and Mark got married in style in Dunston Hall, just outside of Norwich. All weddings I’ve ever shot there were in Eaton Suite, so the change of location (Sunnydale Suite) was most welcome.

Here’s some photos from this wedding:

Evening party was cool! My husband John who is our family’s local music expert said that it was the best band that he heard at any wedding he assisted me with (and he has heard quite a few!)

Mark’s son sang a song along the band’s singer:

All an all, a thoroughly enjoyable day, the camera biting the dust non-withstanding!

Emily and Mark had their pre-wedding session outside the new Chapelfield Centre in Norwich. It is a quintessentially urban location, with its shops, cafes and contemporary residencial areas.

We began the shoot by strolling past the shops of St Stephen’s Street. The background colours were fabulous and the couple was very relaxed from the very outset!

This window and brick walls reminded me Amsterdam for some reason:

This session took place on Fran and Paul’s farm which had a lot of different textures and character. This is another of “sort of” pre-wedding shoots since three active kids were bound to steal the show.

David Beckstead is one of the most respected and talented wedding photographers in the USA. A while ago he came up with an idea of creating a sort of compendium of images from various photographers from around the world (with their permission, of course). One is showcased every day.

My photo from Michelle and Stuart’s wedding was featured on Admired by Beckstead website on May 9 - and I missed it! Here’s the link: http://www.admiredbybeckstead.com/?i=37

I am honoured!

Sample album design

May 18, 2006

I have received an email from Tara and Jon with a request to have look at some of our magazine-style album designs. I have just sent this album files to the lab and thought that other couples may be interested to see them as well (but were afraid to  ask!)

We’ve been busy upgrading our computer systems for the wedding season. I have spent an absolute fortune, but, being a geek, I am quite excited about the upgrades!

Professional digital photography is quite expensive because I take up to 20Gb worth of files every week. My top of the range full frame Canon 1DS MkII and 5D produce files as large as 17 and 12 Mb respectively. Every click of a button has financial implications!

Anyway, the broadband connection speed has been upped to 6.5Mb (should have been 8Mb but we live far from the exchange and lose some speed) - the lab uploads should now be faster.

The RAM on the main dual processor PC is now 4GB to speed up Photoshop processing those huge files.

The hard drive on the auxilliary computer has been completely reformatted and a clean install of Windows XP SP2 and graphics programmes has been performed.

Photoshop CS has been upgraded to CS2. Wacom Tablet is added for precision retouching.

And those who know how I moan about hard drive space would empathise how excited I am about a new Buffalo Tera-Station (4 hard-drives of 1Tb in total in Raid 5 configuration) that arrived today! John thinks that it reminds him of a cyber dog in the recent episode of Doctor Who.

The Tera-Station is still checking itself/formating for the next 4 hours (dooh…) so i do not know if it works properly. But if it does, there should be enough memory to last through this summer!

I loved this wedding! Amy and Justin’s attention to detail was impeccable as both the bride and the groom are very creative.

The flowers:

Perhaps it wouldn’t come as a surprise that the whole wedding theme (Regency) started with a purchase of a dress. Or should I say, “The Dress” - an Ian Stewart designer creation:

This photo does not do it justice - I promise I’ll show it in action!

Unusually, the bride wore purple boots:

And the heels:

At the end of the wedding I had a chat with Justin’s mum and dad. We were talking about Holga cameras, but couldn’t remember the name! This conversation inspired me to interpret several preparation photos in a sepia Holga style.

Fee and Ed wanted to include Annie and Mathilda into their pre-wedding shoot at their cottage in the middle of the fields. It’s sort of difficult to get romantic photos with kids around, but we had fun with them. I love shooting kids anyway, so it was a great opportunity to play!

Continuing the bridge theme, Paul and Mark had their pre-wedding shoot on, under and across from the Millenium Bridge in Norwich. The little yellow and green ferry boat house and the blue construction site fence added a spash of colour to the location dominated by the (off-)white bridge structure.

We left this shoot a bit late as their wedding is this Saturday. Hopefully, guys, after this session you have figured out that I do not bite and there is absolutely nothing to worry about being photographed!

Here you go - near the bridge:

John and I discovered this location by chance on one of our walks in Eaton. The cars passing at high speed above our heads sounded almost like rain. Underneath the bridge there was this amazing succession of concrete pillars and the quality of light was very nice for black and white photos. It was also a strong combination of built environment and open fields/river. I pitched the location to Emma and Jon and they agreed to play!

I loved Emma’s outfit!
