I am away in Bristol for a couple of days for a studio back office and workflow training. I’ll be back on Wednesday to answer any enquiries. Meanwhile John may pick up the phone. Please bear with him if he grumbles and be gentle - he is just a man! He is usually deeply involved into whatever he is doing at the moment - one track mind sort of thing.

Sally and Jason got married in St Withburga’s church on the grounds of Holkham Estate. It looks like many Norfolk flint churches from the outside, but inside it is full of very intersting features that just beg to be incorporated into photographs. But I am getting ahead of myself…

The day began with photographing Sally getting ready at her parent’s place. Some details:

It’s a very sad time for Alan and Donna whose wedding I photographed on 10 June. I have just learned that Alan’s dad has suddently passed away. The funeral in next week on Thursday.

My heart goes out to you guys and I pray for his peace in heaven and for you.

Lucia and Mike made an entirely unconventional but very beatiful choice to exchange their vows at a humanist ceremony in a grove of trees on the grounds of Wimpole Hall near Cambridge. The whole wedding was very laid back and relaxed.

Here’s the view from the grove:

The ceremony was very sweet and touching, so Lucia got quite emotional:

Afterwards they had a champaigne reception right there. Champaigne was plentiful (evidence):

They had a cute little girl that volunteered to help out:

The kids really enjoyed themselves because there was a lot of space to run around and climb:

When everyone started drifting to the reception, we stayed behind for a quick private shoot on the grounds of Wimpole Hall.

I love the dramatic sunshine in this one!

Gary has just returned from his holidday and started working on Donna and Alan’s and Emily and Mark’s DVDs.

Before his holiday he had won an assignment at the Norwich School of Art and Design for the best fashion cover and inside spread article design. The prize is  a week work experience at Archant in September.

Congratulations, Gary!

As you know, on our pricelist we offer a cool 50% saving on a run of 100 5×7 prints usually ordered by parents.

Our proofing/ordering cart that went live in 2003 served us well for nearly 3 years, but did not work particulalrly efficiently for these large runs of prints. Also, since the launch of the separate wedding site we needed to update the colour scheme to match.

I finally sat down this morning, upgraded the whole thing to the new version and tinkered a bit with the code to improve functionality and appearance. Thank you, Peter, for helping me out on Sunday of all days when I was stuck! That was above the call of duty!

The new cart now allows you to add your 100 prints to the checkout as one unit (container) which you can then fill with photos and it will keep count of how many have been added already. You do not have to count manually any more!

I implemented the cart for Emily and Mark for the 1st time. You are welcome to check out how the new cart looks like.

Emily and Mark are one of my favourite couples because they are so relaxed about being photographed! They got married in the church (the vicar allowed me to MOVE as long as I am unobtrusive) and their reception was at Bedford Lodge Hotel in Newmarket. Everyone was so chilled on the day!

Apart from photographing weddings during the week I regularly shoot various PR assignments in Norfolk and Suffolk. Last week I had a pleasure of being invited to cover the launch of the new Lings Honda centre in Harleston.

The company is very community-oriented and every launch I have covered for them was well-attended by scores of families, all having fun. Here are some images from this event:

Donna and Alan’s wedding sapn three locations and took place on one of the hottest days this summer.

Marcus Bell @ Coventry

July 7, 2006

I had a pleasure of attending a photography workshop in Coventry this week. Marcus Bell, an Australian photographer who is going to feature on the second volume of the Masters of Wedding Photography DVD, is currently doing his teaching tour in this country. Like Joe Buissink, Marcus advocates shooting from the heart - looking for emotional moments and using his own life experience for interpreting and capturing them.

One of the interesting parts of the workshop was Marcus’s workflow and masterprint methods and demonstrations. Needless to say, I am a convert and delayed uploading Donna and Alan’s wedding images to have a chance to play with the images and various master-printing techniques.

I am a geek…
