Well, next day after Amanda and Les’s wedding I was back to Caistor Hall to photograph Liz and Laurence tying the knot, with an added pressure to create something different from what I had done a day before.

Boys in the library:

A bit of moral support just before the ceremony:

Waiting for the bride:

During the ceremony:

(It was so  hot that some of heat-sensitive guests and the bride were issued with fans - a brilliant idea).

Signing the register:

A glass of champaigne?

This is a very funny sequence - the best man enthusiastically threw the confetti at the happy couple but most of it ended in Liz’s mouth by accident, with all the mayham that followed!

Kids were treated to some fun in a bouncy castle:

Liz and her matron of honour:

The little flower girl:

Relaxed afternoon drinks outside:

I sneaked Liz and Laurence away from the corwd for some “informals”.

Playing with reflections and shadows in the doorway:

Back to the breakfast reception:

 The cake:

Kids - I even wouldn’t dream of guessing what this was all about:

Best man’s speech:

Nipping outside for some fresh air. It’s hard to be a baby - you are poked and probed all day!

It’s much more fun to be a toddler - you can play with Dad!

Or you can just throw a tennis ball around:

Playing ball in a Cinderella dress takes some practice but it is possible if you are very determined:

Exhausted (so am I!):

What can I say - it was such a fun wedding! But you can see why I also miss my kids and family portrait season which will re-start at the end of October.

In this instalment of my studio blog: wedding Caistor Hall Norwich Norfolk, entertaining children at a wedding.

Amanda and Les got married at caistor Hall, just a couple of miles outside of Norwich. The last time I shot a wedding there was November 2003 so I was quite excited to explore the venue.

Amanda got ready in a very bretty bridal suite with a 4-poster bed. Part of the room flower arrangement:

The shoes:

The bouquet:

Applying make-up:

The dress:

Now this beats the “old dress hanging” any time - Amanda said this  is how the dress was supposed to be arranged for her to step in (according to her dressmaker).

It was so unusual that I shot from a couple of other angles:

From above it looked like a flower:

Amanda’s friend giving a helping hand:

Les looking dashing:

They had a great jazz band that played when the guests started arriving:

The guests:

Les and kids waiting for Amanda’s arrival:

Processional:

Married!

Leasurely afternoon mingling on the lawn and garden games to play:

Amanda and Les:

Les doing a “do not mind me” routine entering the breakfast room:

Cutting the cake:

The competition:

Table games:

A few of you will recognise Brooke and Simon from a pre-wedding shoot gallery on my website - the one on the bale field (the field on the way to which i got lost and had to call Simon something like a hundred times to rescue me!)

This time I wasn’t lost!!! It was a lovely day, sunny but extremely windy, and in my mind I defined it as a “day of an amazing flying veil with a mind of its own”. You’ll see soon what I mean.

Some shots from the getting ready time of the day:

What Brooke saw:

Bridemaids:

Brooke’s mum attaching the veil:

Ouch:

The final result:

The veil behaves:

And now it doesn’t:

Girls give Brooke a hug when they see her  ready:

Granma’s reaction:

Arriving in the limo:

The flowergirl entering the church:

Signing the register:

Down the isle:

Brooke’s dad hugs her after the ceremony:

Confetti:

Brooke and her bridesmaids

Notice the veil!

Brooke and Simon havig a champaigne toast in the limo:

Back to Brooke’s grandparents’ garden:

The veil triies to fly away:

Now it tries to give Brooke a hug!

Back to the limo:

The veil wants to wave goodbye:

Waiting to enter the wedding breakfast room at the reception:

A brief note for those of you who have purchased high resolution digital negatives to print yourselves.

I had a call yesterday from a Boots minilab technician who wanted to verify if one of my brides was authorised to reproduced my images.  I had no problem to confirm that she had a non-commercial usage licence (not for re-sale or publication without permission).

Lab staff are trained to follow the procedures required by law to protect the original copywright holder’s rights (mine). That’s why when you receive your archival presentation box with a DVD or CD, it is accompanied by a note/letter from me on my studio’s headed paper.

When you go to Boots or Jessops, or any other lab of your choice, please take this letter with you to prove that I have allowed you to print the images!

Sally and David’s wedding took place at Park Farm Hotel in Hethersett, just outside of Norwich.

Sally is amazingly creative and elegant, and I kept thinking how she reminds me of  Audrey Hepburn! Her outfit and hair had a 60s feel, and the wedding was themed in black and white.

Some details for you:

Getting ready:

The garter:

Mums watching:

Ready!

Dad escorting Sally to David:

Drinks outside the Park Farm Hotel:

Comfy:

We went for a brief walk on the grounds to get some “informals” of Sally and David:

Sally playing with the draperies of the dress:

The bouquet:

The hotel has this amazing thatched structure in the middle of the lawn at the back - Sally spotted it first and suggested that we take some photographs there:

Back at the reception:

Sally decorated the cake herself!

Kiddies:

Preparing to enter the breakfast room:

Parents listening to speeches:

After his best man finished ”the” speech, David could finally relax with bubbles:

One man down

August 3, 2006

Gary, my production assistant, has been called for jury duty for two weeks, longer if the trial drags. There may be some delays processing stuff as I am left on my own right in the middle of the wedding season. Please bear with me - I am working as hard as I can!
