A lot of my couples recommended me as a portrait photographer to their friends and family after they have seen images from their pre-wedding shoot. Thank you, guys - you are incredible!

I needed to launch a separate website for my lifestyle portrait photography for ages, but the wedding commitments held me back. Finally I set admin paperwork, reprint orders and post-processing aside for a couple of days to shift through my portrait portfolios and get some work done on the new website.

It’s now ready (well, mostly!) I am so excited! Here’s the screen grab of it:

The site is accessible via the entry page of my main website. The direct link is here http://www.galinawalls.co.uk/welcome/index2.php.

To mark the launch there will be a promotional offer - I have to think it up though! Keep an eye on this blog - I’ll post it shortly.

Meanwhile, I’ll drag myself back to admin….

From the first time I met Cat and Jon I was sure that theirs will be a fun warm-hearted wedding - and I was not dissapointed!

My previous wedding in Bylaugh Hall was way back in July and I was looking forward to returning to photograph Cat and Jon.

After Google acquired a video sharing  company YouTube last week there was a lot of buzz in the papers and on TV. I went to their website to have a look what all the fuss was about. It’s good fun!

Back from Venice

October 15, 2006

Hi guys

I am back from Venice, not really rested but really inspired. Yervant was amazing! Great fun and very generous with advice and support!

On the night of arrival all the delegates for treated to dinner and had a chance to get to know each other a little bit. There were photographers from Russia(!), Mexico, Denmark, Australia, USA, Switzerland and UK.

Next day we had a real bride and groom on the streets of Venice to play with:

It’s only a small selection of images i worked on today (otherwise I’ll never touch them, being as busy as I am with my own work)).

On the second day we had a chance to shoot four models in designer gowns:

Day three was all about Photoshop and processing. You may notice that some of the images above are processed differently - more vignetting, darker pallette, diffused glow etc. I am playing with some of the techniques I learned here.

Day four was about business, marketing and working with clients. And a fantastic lunch at a Venician sea food restaurant!

Day five - a visit to the GraphiStudio factory. At the end of the course we were presented with a personalised book containing the course images from all the participants.

Away on a training course

October 7, 2006

Dear All

I am away for a week until 15 October on a training course with Yervant. If you are wondering when your galleries will be online here’s my schedule for the week after.

  • 16-17 October - Album design (Brooke and Simon), assembly (Donna and Alan, Fee and ED) and DVDs (Louisa and Jon).
  • 18-19 October - Postprocessing and gallery upload (Bobi and Jim).
  • 20-21 October - Postprocessing and gallery upload (Cat and Jon).

I’ll post a story about the course when I am back!

Fran and Paul got married in a little church in Horstaed near where they live. If you remember the pre-wedding shoot, it was completely taken over by their adorable kids. This time the bridal preparations were all about Fran who looked really stunning!

We went for a clean, simple modern look:

With lots of kids attending it was a good idea to hire a profesional entertainer and a separate room:

Some could have been easily entertained just by swinging on the door:

I love when the cake-cutting is real, not fake:

Next morning after Lisa and Jason’s wedding John and I were off to Wymondham to photograph Helen and Andy. I was very excited - this is my first military wedding with the guard of honour, uniforms, swords and white gloves!

Helen was late from the hairdresser’s so I had a chance to spend some time with her shoes.

John thinks I’ve got the shoe fetish, perish the thought!

After finishing the speeches it was pitch black outside - and we still needed to nip out for some bride and groom pictures. We started inside:

I have nearly finished processing Lisa and Jason’s photos. They got married in a church in St Marys Walton near Felixstowe, followed by a wedding breakfast at Seckford Hall. Here’s a sneakpeek blogstory before the rest of the images are ready to be uploaded to their online gallery.

Big Reprint Day - update

October 1, 2006

After spending 10 hours preparing and uploading print orders at about 1.30am I gave up. All orders placed before 22September inclusive are at the lab. Anything after 22 September is carefully filed and has to wait after I have returned from my training course in Venice on 15 October.
