Jo and Mark’s design for a 12″x12″ matted album is out for approval. This album will have white textured mats with a bevel edge. The mats are custom-designed and cut to my specifications via a computer-guided process.

Carly and Moussa’s magazine-style album design is scheduled for next week.

Caroline and Rob’s pre-wedding shoot happened to take place on Comic Relief Friday. I usually call sessions in the city “urban romance”, but this one turned out to be quite an “urban laugh” one.

Sometimes during our consultations my potential clients ask me how I manage to take photographs that seem natural and spontaneous to an extent that it seems I was not there with my heavy pro gear.

To this I always reply that a photograph is not taken, it is given. Try to be yourselves, do not be afraid to show your personalities, share your emotions with each other - and you’ll get the photos that are full of energy and are completely inspired by you. I am there to guide you a bit and try to keep up, that’s all.

Caroline and Rob certainly gave me a lot of photos! Yet again I have to confess that I am in awe of my clients’ creativity!

We met at the Starbucks in the city centre for a cup of coffee:

On account of Comic Relief we played with red noses on Gentleman’s Walk:

Kissing and hugging without red noses is so much more comfortable:

We also walked to the Forum (by the way there is an amazing exhibition of aerial photography just outside the Forum and Chapelfield shopping centre - do come and visit it!).

Rob trying to show me what he would look like if he had Caroline’s blond hair:

After this we took a bunch of photos on the bed of daffodils in the park - but that’s another story…

I am working away on a couple of album designs this week.

Julie and Nick’s design draft for a 12″x8″ magazine style album is out today.

I love the simplicity of the details’ spread in contrast to the bustle and hussle of the getting ready pages:

It was still raining when Julie and Nick were supposed to emerge from the church newly-wed. Instead they started an imprompu receiving line in the doorway. There was so much affection towards the couple on the part of their guests! I do not normally crowd my designs but it somehow conveyed the story here:

Here Julie and Nick are leaving for the Assembly House after our private photo session bathed in a late afternoon sun:

Emma and Andy chose Sandringham woods for their fast-paced pre-wedding shoot. This couple has a lot of energy about them, and fun to photograph. The textures and colours of the woods seemed to fit them perfectly.

There was a small playground near the Sandringham visitor centre and we invaded it a little bit:

The birch trees provided an aery backdrop for a bit of chasing:

and the converging tall pines were simply majestic:

We borrowed the swings for a couple of minutes at the end of the session:

The Georgian House Hotel on Unthank Road, Norwich, was being refurbished for quite a while. 5 March saw the opening of the new grand-looking restaurant decorated in black, silver and purple. John and I haven’t eaten there yet but we’ll investigate in due course. Meanwhile, here are some photos that I took for them during the opening week:

The reception was completely redecorated as well:

The rooms are being re-styled in a more modern manner:

All in all, if you are not local and are visiting Norwich you may consider staying there - it’s only a few minutes walk from the city centre.

Blog design update

March 15, 2007

OK, it’s officially updated now - the new look blog is here. Bye-bye, old blog…

The database bug has been sorted out. The header is now loading images (I may refine/add more of these) randomly to jazz things up a little bit. RSS feed is more prominent for those who would like to subscribe to it.

Is it final? I don’t think so…

This blog has been up for more than a year and I feel it needs a re-design or something - space for bigger photos, personalised graphics maybe. I do not know what i am looking for yet, and it may not amount to anything - but if you see anything flickering or out of order please bear with me. I am tinkering behind the scenes.

Tried several skins and they all mess up my previous posts. It will be funny if after all this work I revert to my original design…

Update: Upgraded my Wordpress 1.5 to the newest version. In the process acquired an SQL database error somehow - URRR!

Naomi and Matthew’s shoot was the 1st pre-wedding session this year. As you can see, Naomi has a mischievous streak in her.

We started taking photos at the Forum car park and then walked around Norwich. It’s amazing how many interesting nooks and crannies the city has if you are prepared to wander off the main areas!

Don’t worry - we took a whole bunch of pictures in colour and black and white too. I just wanted to experiment with a nostalgic Holga-esque look and our locations called for a slightly distressed worn treatment.

Continuing the account of our photo workshop in Venice, Yervant has recently posted a video record of it created by Laslo, Alexey and Alexander from Russia.

Great job - it reminded mehow much fun we all had and how much we learned from Yervant and Anie!

Here’s the link to it on Yervant’s blog:

Jo and Mark’s wedding at Bylaugh Hall was my first wedding this year. Jo and Mark planned everything to perfection - I loved the intimate atmosphere and jo’s attention to detail. And her cheekbones were to die for!

My friend Brenda Bowler from Beauty4Brides whom I thoroughly recommend did Jo’s make-up:

And the result:

Instead of a traditional bouquet Jo wore a matching corsage. I really loved this idea - it was so elegant!

Here she comes:

Before the drinks reception we sneaked a few bride ang groom photos:
