Naomi and Matthew whom I had a pleasure photographing earlier at the Forum car park got married at Caistor Hall just outside Norwich. And don’t they scrub up well!

Some details from bridal preparations:

Naomi wore pink shoes - you know how I love shoes:

Make-up:

Guests and Matthew waiting for Naomi’s arrival before the ceremony:

Naomi arrives with her dad:

He was unwell before the wedding and everyone was so glad that he was able to make it to the ceremony!

He looked so happy on the day.

OK, this is quite a symbolic moment - the bride re-arranging the rings after the ceremony:

It was too cold to take Naomi and Matthew outside for their private session so we went upstairs to their bridal suite.

Some portraits:

The speeches were made before the guests sat down for meal. This is a growing tradition that allows to dispense with the formalities early in the day:

I was reading the Bride magazine just a couple days ago and there was an article there how to tell a modern bride by her table decorations choice. Apparently, tight rose buds in perspex squares one of the tell-tale signs:

Naomi and Matthew entering the breakfast room:

Bride and groom giving the presents:

This wedding was a very kid-friendly affair and a lot of them were invited.

Groom’s sons judiciously avoided my camera all day:

Bouquet fight:

This fellow tries to make sense of me poking a camera in his face:

A bit of hair-pulling:

Guys, it was lovely to be part of your day - I hope you’ll like your photos…

Just a quick note to all my past and current clients - some clients do not seem to receive my emails because their anti-spam filters are configured to automatically block any unknown senders. Please-please-please make sure that my email is added to your address books - this way I’ll be a known sender (hopefully)!!!

P.S. There is a quarterly e-newsletter coming out soon with all sort of exciting updates and a special offer.

I have received an email from Carly and Moussa this weekend:

“Just a quick note to let you know how happy we both are with our photographs.

You captured the day exactly how we want to remember it, intimate, personal and a lot of fun. Thank you.”

Thank you, guys, for your kind words!

Becky and Anthony arranged their pre-wedding shoot to take place on a beach near Sea Palling. There were plenty of spaces to roam and natural textures to explore. Becky and Anthony got into the swing of things in no time. Both have a lot of energy that usually translates well in lifestyle photography.

As you might have guessed, Becky and Anthony had to climb some rocks to make the previous series possible. Here’s Becky helping Anthony to descend:

A bit of running along the beach:

We went quite close to the water. I loved the sea foam around their feet!

Dancing(?):

A wedding date on the sand:

Yellow safety telephone:

I played with antique toning on a couple of images - they do look stunning and quite unusual when you see then in actual print:

I have been delaying designing this album as I was in the process of switching from some proprietary magazine album design packages, each of which have various funtionality limitations, to a publishing industry standard Adobe Indesign CS2 (or SC3 if I decide to upgrade). In the past I used Photojunction, Pixel Creator Pro, Yervant’s Page Gallery and Albums Australia’s TDA. I have received a couple of emails from other photographers asking to compare these software packages - and I think I am going to write a separate post soon to address this issue.

Meanwhile, here are some spreads from my first album in Indesign. The pages used rich chocloate and neutral black and white colours, and styled with 7pt solid and dotted strokes for contrast and emphasis.

Happy Easter!

April 9, 2007

Happy Easter, everyone!

Rosey and Ian came up with an idea of taking their pre-wedding session to the Norwich market where they shop every Saturday. I shot there before but always after the stalls were closed. This time Ian asked permission from the owners of Taylor and Son fruit and vegetable stall in the heart of the market to impose on them during the working hours.

While we were shooting some stalled started closing and we used a yellow door as a backdrop:

Walkabout in Bridewell Alley which is so typical of old Norwich lanes:

The session finished at the hairdressers on the corner of London Street:

Afterwards Rosey and Ian treated me to a glass of white wine at Bedford Arms pub.

I am off for the whole day tomorrow to attend the MPA (Master Photographer Association) Cherubs event in Coventry. I am looking forward to listen to Lori Nordstrom, a famous portrait photographer from the USA, who will share her non-traditional approach to photography, marketing and client experience.

Although my core approach to children portrait photography is diametrically different, I have been following Lori’s work for quite a while through my membership in Pro4um, an international community of professional photographers, of which Lori is a member. I am excited that she is finally here in the UK, sharing her knowledge and marketing expertise - she is a real star and her genuine passion in everything she does shines through her work! I simply couldn’t miss this opportunity to finally meet her in person!
