We have some bad news. Merely several months after the death of his uncle, John’s auntie died in the hospital this Friday. John called me a couple of days ago from Sweden telling me how he was looking forward to seeing her next week. He is devastated that he was not there to say goodbye.

It’s a hard time for his family - I’ll be away for a couple of days to support him.

Projects that are nearly finished, just need some black and white conversions:

Donna and Alex’s pre-wedding shoot
Baby Thomas’ portrait session

I’ll finish working on these when I am back.

Scheduled next for processing - Christie and Melvyn’s pre-wedding shoot and Sabina and Tom’s wedding photos.

A note for the 2006 couples who purchased their digital negatives - I haven’t banked your cheques. Your boxed DVDs will go in the post as soon as I am back!

Thank you for understanding….

I have received a lovely hand-written thank you note from Katie and Doug:

“Dear Galina,

Thank you so much for sending the DVD of wedding photos - we haven’t got access to email or internet at the moment so it was a nice surprise.

You’ve done a wonderful job - there are so many photos of friends and family having a great time that it’s a great reminder of a very joyful day! It was lovely to be able to watch the DVD through and be reminded of everything - even the music you chose was perfect! Thank you so much for all your hard work and for some truly beautiful photos…

With lots of love,

Doug and Katie”

Thank you, guys - you were lovely!

Stacey and Mark’s piccies are ready. They got married at the Marriott Hotel in Peterborough. The weather held until 2pm, just in time for their wedding breakfast, so they managed to use the lovely grounds of the hotel, with plenty of space for kids to roam and a fish pond.

Ok, a number of couples saw display canvas wraps at my place during their consultations and commented how impressive they looked on the walls. They have now approached me with enquiries about how to order them for their wedding and pre-wedding shoot photos.

Canvases are a very modern and effective format of presenting your images. They work well in conjunction with urban photos, rural scenics, lifestyle close-up portraits and black and whites. The possibilities are endless! Unlike traditional frames there is no glass involved so you do not have to deal with the glare that limits where you can display them.

If you want to get one before Xmas you have to place your order by 27 October at the latest. You can order by phone/via email and post me the cheque, or you can use the Quickshop link above on the navigation bar in this diary (I’ll add the relevant items to the Quickshop menu by the end of today). Don’t forget to mention the image ID!

As I’ll be in Durham from November onwards the canvases will be couriered to your address directly from the lab - so no self-pickups please.

Below are some examples to inspire you.

A canvas triptych (three vertical panoramic panels) works very well with scenic photos. A couple of weeks ago I posted this image of Tara and Jon walking in the fields outside Hunters Hall:

Here’s how this photo will look in triptych:

This one is from a Red Nose Day urban pre-wedding shoot:

Looking forward to hearing from those who are interested in this product!

Just to let you know that Yvonne’s trash the dress photos appeared on the European version of the TTD website. Here’s the link:

I am only in Norfolk for another 6 weeks - if you want to come out and play in October please get in touch!

Sarah and David got married at Norwich Cathedral and had their wedding reception at the cathedral refectory. It was an unusual wedding, full of references to music which allowed them to meet and fall in love. They also had a full 1.5 hr service with a communion - the first Anglican wedding ever that I photographed which had a communion.

Without much ado I’ll show your some piccies from Sarah and David’s wedding day.

Obviously those sandwiches were not very nourishing:

This shot of an usher with his fingers crossed behind his back is sort of funny:

As the guests were ushered upstairs for a wedding breakfast I waylaid Sarah and David for some private shots. They wanted to walk the labyrinth:

Tara and Jon @ Hunters Hall

September 9, 2007

Tara and Jon were married at Hunters Hall, Swanton Morley, on a hot sunny day.

As Tara was super organised and her hair and makeup had been already done, and her flowers delivered, it was a time for some champagne (poured by best man):

Tara is ready:

Guests arriving to Hunters Hall:

A shy little boy clinging to his grandad:

Jon waiting for Tara to enter the ceremony room:

It was so hot that the guests were issued with fans:

The rings:

Speeches:

We went for a brief stroll in the fields - the light was still pretty contrasty for “straightforward” portraits but it was dramatic enough for wide-angle scenic shots and it allowed me to play with the flair.

The idea to showcase the settings of Hunters Hall and enhance the laidback hot summer afternoon mood.

Michelle & Doug @ Salle Church

September 5, 2007

Michelle and Doug got married in Salle church, followed by a wedding reception at Thurning Hall.

Waiting for the guests to arrive:

He must have been very nervous:

Goug told me that a shot from above in this church is a sort of family tradition so I photographed the processional from the bell ringers gallery:

After the ceremony:

I thought this shot of a friend doing “reportage” photography while hiding behind the car was very funny:
